Equipment Share equipment transfer facility

Equipment Share, a construction-equipment company, wants to use a 6.19-acre site at 650 West 4100 South in a Light Manufacturing zone as an equipment transfer facility. A truck transfer business used the site until its license lapsed in February 2026. Plans are to use the existing 7,200-square-foot building for offices and equipment repair and the rest, mostly gravel, for outdoor storage of machines such as bulldozers, excavators and lifts. It would not be a customer rental location. The company expects 10 to 15 full-time employees, about 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. hours on weekdays, 15 to 25 truck trips a day and access only from 500 West. It plans to repair the perimeter fence and plant trees about every 40 feet, and neighborhood outreach drew almost no one. The Planning Commission approved the conditional use permit 9-0 on Sept. 16 with four conditions: a valid business license, site plan approval and improvements within a year, compliance with the operating plans, and no moving of equipment before 7 a.m. The permit is separate from the site plan review that is still to come. The minutes are draft, and it is not shown that the facility has opened.
