14600 South corridor study
Bluffdale is studying how to widen 14600 South between Redwood Road and Spring View Parkway, where about 11,000 to 16,000 vehicles a day already use a two-lane road. The consultant, Wall Consultant Group, projects 18,000 to 20,000 a day by 2050 and says four lanes would handle that. Its early concept has two lanes each way with no center turn lane, sidewalks, and bike lanes set behind the curb. It also compares widening to the north, to the south, or a "best fit" that takes smaller strips from both sides so fewer homes are lost, and weighs a signal against a roundabout at 1690 West and a bridge for the Jordan River Trail crossing. Preliminary 2025-dollar costs are about $19 million for the road, $350,000 more for a signal or $2 million for a roundabout, and about $3 million for the trail bridge. The consultant said no funding is in place, getting it could take years, and the whole process could run 10 to 15 years. The City Manager called the numbers very preliminary. This study is separate from the 14600 South railroad underpass now under construction.
