Amalga at a glance

Cache County · Utah

Amalga’s name preserves a chapter of Cache Valley’s sugar-beet industry. Utah’s History to Go connects it with the Amalgamated Sugar Company and a refinery that closed in 1919. The same industrial site later found a different purpose in cheese production, linking the community’s story with the valley’s dairy economy.

The town website provides another way to understand Amalga: through its water reports, town code, planning forms and public meeting records. Those resources connect the agricultural and industrial history with the everyday work of a small Cache County municipality. Residents can follow council and planning business separately through the state’s public-notice system. Amalga’s Town Council listing uses Town Board terminology and can contain repeated entries for the same meeting date. Compare the notice text and posting details before counting meetings or records; duplicate-looking notices do not establish that multiple meetings occurred.
