Council Member, District 4ProvoSource

Executive and professional background

Travis Hoban represents Provo Council District 4, with a current term expiring in January 2028. Provo identifies him as a chief technology officer whose earlier work included senior leadership in banking and professional sports. He attended Brigham Young University for his bachelor’s degree and the University of Utah for a master’s degree, before combining executive work with municipal service. [1]

Council and civic involvement

Hoban was first elected to the Provo City Council in 2019. His official biography also describes precinct leadership and county and state delegate service. In February 2026 candidate responses published by the Lehi Free Press, he identifies six years on the council’s Audit Committee, giving a specific account of his involvement with city budgets, internal controls and financial accountability. [1] [2]

Auditing experience

In those responses, Hoban says he holds a professional internal-auditor credential and has led or participated in banking and financial-technology audits. He also describes prior service as a bank vice president managing teams, budgets and complex operations. These are his own descriptions of experience offered while seeking the county auditor position, separate from his continuing responsibilities as a Provo council member. [2]

Financial oversight priorities

Hoban’s published statement emphasizes financial information residents can understand, independent professional audits and disciplined spending. He supports stronger internal controls and identifying inefficiencies before they become larger problems. His explanation connects technical and executive experience with the oversight function of elected government. The county-office proposals are campaign priorities; they should not be read as city ordinances already enacted or as proof of specific savings. [2]
