Background

Rory Paxman is an unaffiliated candidate for an at-large seat on the Grand County Commission in 2026. A longtime local tourism-business owner, he has co-owned Canyonlands By Night & Day. Paxman previously served two terms, from 2013 through 2020, on the governing body then called the Grand County Council. In a 2026 campaign essay, he described additional service with the Chamber of Commerce, Weed Board, Outdoor Sports and Tourism Association, a local water district and the Airport Board. He presents his business and county-government experience as the foundation of his return to electoral politics.
