Katrice MacKay represents Provo’s Citywide I council seat, with a term expiring in January 2030. She graduated from BYU’s Marriott School of Business. Her campaign biography describes corporate work for Gap in the San Francisco Bay Area, advertising work in Seattle and a later position with a software company after returning to Provo. She also helped with a family skincare startup. [1] [2]
Community roots and volunteering
MacKay attended Provo schools before moving away for professional opportunities and subsequently returning to raise her family. Her own biography identifies volunteer experience involving a crisis line, counseling, hospice, church organizations and school parent groups. She links those experiences with a desire to contribute more widely through local government and maintain the qualities that drew her family back to the city. [2]
Neighborhoods and municipal finances
Her platform calls for zoning decisions responsive to the distinct concerns of different neighborhoods. On finances, she advocates long-term budget planning, careful spending and maintaining the city’s bond rating while limiting pressure for higher taxes. Those are her stated governing priorities, emphasizing both current services and the costs passed to future residents as Provo grows. [3]
Business, safety and public space
MacKay supports attracting a broader mix of employers and retail activity, retaining police and fire personnel and protecting parks and natural resources. Her platform also proposes a city app for reporting problems and receiving updates. She describes volunteering in a Slate Canyon cleanup as part of her interest in open space. These are campaign positions and experiences, not claims that every proposal has been implemented. [3]
