He was stationed in Washington, D.C., and later deployed to Iraq twice. The first deployment was with the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, and the second with the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines. His account also describes honor-guard service at Ground Zero in New York following the September 11 attacks.
