Background
Jon D. Beesley served as mayor of Plain City from 2018 through 2025. His subsequent Weber County Commission campaign drew on that municipal experience and other community roles. The campaign biography lists eight years on the Bona Vista Water Conservancy District board, three years as auction superintendent for the Weber Jr. Livestock Association and 12 years volunteering with local Fourth of July celebrations. A May 2026 Standard-Examiner interview confirmed his mayoral service and described his focus on relationships between county government, cities and residents. He has emphasized fiscal oversight, public access and coordination across local governments.

State Auditor found Plain City event payments went through personal payment apps
A 2025 State Auditor review confirmed that some Plain City event and concession payments were collected through employees' or volunteers' personal payment-app accounts, with no receipt records. The auditor agreed the risk of significant loss was low. The city said it moved to a city-controlled account.
