Background
Eric Houston’s background combines county law enforcement with municipal government service. A 2022 election profile reported that he had spent 21 years as a sheriff’s deputy, eight and a half years on the Panguitch City Council and five and a half years as mayor. He was serving as both mayor and deputy during the 2017 Brian Head fire. The Utah Sheriffs’ Association now identifies the Garfield County sheriff as its second vice president.
