Background

Chad Hayman joined the Tremonton Police Department in 2005. In 2017, the city awarded him its Medal of Valor for intervening when he encountered an armed man outside a Main Street business. The Tremonton Leader reported that Hayman confronted the man, pursued him after he discarded the rifle and fled, and took him into custody without anyone being injured. Hayman later entered the 2026 Box Elder County sheriff’s race as an unaffiliated candidate. By October 2026, however, he had told KSL that he was no longer campaigning for that office.
