Utah County voters will pick a county auditor and a county clerk on Nov. 3, with Gina Tanner and Hans V. Andersen on the ballot for auditor and Corey K. Astill and Russ J. Rampton for clerk, the Lehi Free Press reported. The Free Press and the American Fork Citizen sent each candidate the same questionnaire and followed up by email, text and voicemail where available. Tanner and Astill are Republicans. The report did not give a party for Andersen or Rampton, and neither responded to requests for a profile. [1]

Tanner said she is running to improve transparency and accountability for tax dollars. She cited a master's degree in accounting, hands-on budgeting experience and 20 years of service in Utah County, and said she supports modernization that increases efficiency and strengthens oversight. She described herself as a lifelong county resident. [1]

Astill's answers, written in the third person, said the clerk's job is execution and accuracy and listed priorities of election security, including signature verification and accurate voter rolls, professional election administration and convenient voting, including by mail. He said he would work to rebuild public trust eroded by recent controversies. He cited work as a U.S. Senate chief of staff, a corporate vice president and co-owner of two clinics for children with autism. [1]

Ballots were mailed Oct. 13 and must reach the county elections office by 8 p.m. Nov. 3, with a postmark no longer counting. Voters can use any of 28 drop boxes, vote early in person Oct. 26-30 and Nov. 2 at 151 S. University Ave. in Provo, or go to a vote center from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Oct. 23. [1]
