Eight new pickleball courts and an accessible playground at the Old Spanish Trail Arena south of Moab will open to the public after a ribbon-cutting at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, The Times-Independent reported. The opening follows years of local efforts to build dedicated pickleball courts. [1]

The courts and playground at 3641 S. Highway 191 will stay closed until after the ceremony while crews finish work, arena Director Angie Book said, according to the newspaper. Courts will be first-come, first-served, and both the courts and playground can be rented privately through the arena. [1]

The courts will close at 10:30 p.m. and the playground at dusk, the Times-Independent reported. Children must be supervised by an adult, dogs are not allowed in the sports complex and players must wear court shoes. [1]
