The American Cancer Society event raises money for breast cancer research, advocacy and patient services, including the society's 41-room Hope Lodge in Salt Lake City, which opened in 2015 and houses about 1,100 patients a year who travel for treatment. The society estimates 2,380 Utah women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year and 170 will die of the disease. [1]

Tina Winrow and her husband, Rick, lead a team called Think Pink in honor of her mother, Sharon, who died of breast cancer. Rick Winrow said the team has raised about $40,000 over nine years. [1]
