Official visitor information ↗Kodachrome Basin is known for its sedimentary pipes, nearly 70 tall chimneys of white and tan rock that rise from the red basin floor. Geologists think they formed when sediment-filled springs or geysers hardened and the softer rock around them eroded away.
Short trails like the Angel’s Palace and Panorama trails wind among the spires and climb to viewpoints. The campground and cabins are a quieter alternative to staying near Bryce Canyon, 20 minutes away, and the dark skies are superb.

Good to know
- Combine with Bryce Canyon and Cottonwood Canyon Road to Grosvenor Arch, in dry weather.
- The campground is a good alternative when Bryce is full.
- Stay for stargazing; the skies are very dark.
