Provo Canyon carries US-189 east from Orem along the Provo River toward the Heber Valley. For most people it is a drive, but about 7 miles up, just past a tunnel, SR-92 turns north toward Sundance Mountain Resort and the Aspen Grove trailhead, where trails start for Stewart Falls and the Aspen Grove route up Mount Timpanogos.

That side road continues as the Alpine Loop over to American Fork Canyon. The Forest Service describes the Aspen Grove trailhead as a fee site where interagency passes are honored and dogs must be leashed because of wildlife harassment.
